Summary Review: 3 stars (out of 5)
Detailed Review:
Crust: Firehouse Pizza Wood-Fired has a crust that is thicker than you would expect for wood-fired pizza. The crust has the usual blackened spots. It doesn't have much taste, and the texture is a little on the hard side, but only a little. I've had better crusts, but this crust isn't terrible. Score: 6/10
Sauce: This pizza does not have much sauce, and what sauce does appear tastes on the spicy side. I guess this sauce is the reason they call this pizza Firehouse. This is not my favorite sauce. Score: 3/10
Cheese: The cheese appears in adequate quantity, and it does not produce too much grease. Score: 8/10
Toppings: The pepperoni comes in big but thin slices that have a nice spiced pork flavor. The sausage comes in tiny ground-up pieces that have no discernable flavor. This pizza needs better sausage. Both toppings appear in adequate quantity. Score: 7/10
Overall Taste: The sauce is too spicy for my taste palette, and otherwise the taste is quite bland. The pepperoni saves a real disaster. Score: 6/10
Pizza Appearance: The large slices of pepperoni catch the eye. Otherwise, the appearance is very average.
Dining Atmosphere: I ordered take-out, but Firehouse Pizza Wood-Fired has a modern and functional dining room.
Customer Service: The service was fast and friendly on my visit.
Monetary Value: The quality is not great, but also this pizza is not very expensive. Therefore, the value is about average.
The Final Judgment:
In a region with few restaurants that fire up pizza ovens, Firehouse Pizza Wood-Fired gets the job done, but that's about it. My heart isn't on fire for this pizza, but I'm not ready to fire it from my pizza rotation either. Score: 70/100
